Sodium chlorite is a clear, colourless chemical solution with a weak, chlorine-like odour.

Overview

  • Removes pigment from a range of materials without damaging the structure of fibres.
  • Sodium chlorite is also used for inhibiting microbial growth.
  • Commonly applied as a reagent for the oxidation of aldehydes to carboxylic acids, a process known as Pinnick oxidation.
  • Uses in mouthwashes, toothpastes and contacts lens solution.

Textile Chemicals & Dyes

• Generation of chlorine dioxide: used for bleaching and stripping of pulp and paper, a proven antimicrobial agent when used in poultry process water and fungicidal in the washing of fruits and vegetables.
