Sodium chlorite is a clear, colourless chemical solution with a weak, chlorine-like odour.

Overview

Removes pigment from a range of materials without damaging the structure of fibres.
Sodium chlorite is also used for inhibiting microbial growth.
Commonly applied as a reagent for the oxidation of aldehydes to carboxylic acids, a process known as Pinnick oxidation.
Uses in mouthwashes, toothpastes and contacts lens solution.
