Safety and the Environment Receive Investment

As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing our environmental impact and increasing on-site safety, our small pack chemical filling department has undergone a refurbishment to provide greater protection to our environment and our team, as well as increasing production capacity.

  • A new chemical-resistant coating now covers any potentially wetted areas which makes the area safer in the case of any spillages.
  • New drainage facilities have been installed which not only improve our wastewater treatment system but also allows us to process multiple chemicals concurrently which increases our small pack chemical filling production capacity.
  • Enhanced extractors create a safer and more comfortable environment for our small pack operators and the conveyor system has been upgraded with a chemical-resistant slat to make the whole system safer and more efficient.

Ben Bellwood, Maintenance and Projects Manager, explains: “Safety is something that is constantly under review at Airedale Group and we identified a number of ways to not only increase safety and comfort for those operatives working in the small pack chemical filling area, but also ways to make the department work more efficiently. We can now work with both acids and alkalis simultaneously which means greater use of our facilities.

“We have also created a working environment which is safe as possible and also provides extra protection against the environment.”
