Glycolic acid has become synonymous with skincare treatments in recent years, and particularly since the rise of chemical peels, but it is also a major player in the production of industrial and household cleaners with many properties that make it an excellent choice over more traditional cleaning chemicals.
Although part of the Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) group, it is less corrosive than many other acids, but still provides outstanding disinfectant and scale removal power. Being constructed of smaller molecules means it can create greater penetration for faster and more effective cleaning.
Glycolic acid is biodegradable, so can be used as part of greener formulations and is ideal for products used in indoor applications and in sensitive environments due to its minimal odour and non-Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) making it more user-friendly during the end application.
However, it still provides exceptional removal of unwanted scale, rust and soap scum from many surfaces including ceramic and grout. Being less corrosive than many other acidic cleaners, it is also perfect for metal surfaces where it can disinfect without compromising surfaces. It can even be used in carpet and upholstery cleaners to remove stubborn stains without damage.
Our technical grade glycolic acid is available in 70% strength and comes as clear to amber liquid in quantities to suit our customers, up to bulk transfer.
