During the run up to summer, our Life Science and Surfactants division has been busily supplying manufacturers with key ingredients needed to produce everything from deodorants to shower gels and sunscreen to sunless tanning.
The range includes all the essential building blocks for personal care including a selection of surfactants, preservatives and speciality ingredients.
Introducing anionic surfactants with their negatively charged heads which are highly effective at removing and suspending particles of dirt can help create a lather making it frequently used in detergents and shampoos.
Whereas nonanoic surfactants are constructed with heads which attract water and carry no electric charge, making them a more stable compound that is excellent at emulsifying oils for use in the production of laundry products and cosmetics.
Amphoteric surfactants contain both positive and negative charges and are highly compatible for use with other surfactants and can help provide thickness to liquid formulations.
We also supply preservatives which prolong the shelf life and efficacy of many personal care and household products, as well as more speciality chemicals, such as Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) which brings the bronze to fake tan lotions.
So, next time you reach for your deodorant or factor 50, take a moment to consider all the active ingredients needed to keep our summers smelling sweet and looking good.
