Aire Valley Environment Project Launches Our Net Zero Pledge

We have launched our journey towards net zero by 2045 with a major new project to support the local environment by pledging 200 hours of volunteer time to help the Aire Rivers Trust in its work to improve the Aire Valley rivers, reducing flooding and encouraging nature in the area.

As a company, we have been making continuous improvements to our operations for several years and boosting sustainability on site, but the initiative with Aire Rivers Trust formalises our commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2045.

Richard Ward, managing director, explains: “Over recent years we have implemented many projects to increase sustainability and lessen our impact on the environment, from the installation of solar panels on our warehouses, to creating wildflower areas in our local park.

“But with the launch of our ‘net zero by 2045’ journey, we want to mark the occasion with something special that really demonstrates our commitment to making a difference.

“Aire Rivers Trust seemed the perfect partner. The work of the trust directly impacts our immediate environment, we work closely with Yorkshire Water and the Environment Agency and have many customers in the water treatment industry.”

Gareth Muir, Project Officer at the Aire Rivers Trust, adds: “The support we receive from businesses like Airedale Group is invaluable and the activities they’re taking part in are instrumental in making a significant impact on our environment.

“They have already helped maintain grass and wildflower areas, paint railings, pick up litter and cut hedges and we’re looking for to seeing what they can help us achieve over the coming months.”
