Introducing Electric FLTs To Our On-Site Fleet

As we continue to roll out projects aimed at reducing our carbon footprint, we have recently taken delivery of our first electric forklift truck into the fleet.

It is the first of three new Toyota electric vehicles expected in the coming months, with plans to eventually replace more of our gas-fuelled FLTs.

We are investing £7,500 and we expect to save around £25,000 on gas costs throughout the full project. Solar panels installed on our buildings will also be used to fully charge the trucks during weekends, giving us further savings in fully utilising our renewable energy facilities.

It will also provide a reduction in noise on site and release no emissions.

Additional safety features to help create a working environment which is safe for our employees  and any visitors, including:

  • Non-lithium batteries
  • Enhanced stability on corners
  • Fingertip controls
  • Full LED lighting with front & rear blue spot safety light
  • Internal rear view panoramic mirror
  • Fork level device
  • Lift and overload warning system
  • Weigh scale indicator
  • Impact detector

Operations Director, Adrian Bevan, says: “This is an exciting new chapter for our site operations as we begin to embrace the advantages of electric vehicles. A lot of research was carried out beforehand and we have found a model which not only reduces our impact on the environment but also enhances our safety credentials which has always been paramount at Airedale Group.”
