Stevia

Extracted from the leaves of the Stevia rebaudiana plant species, stevia is a commonly used natural sweetener and sugar substitute. As food manufacturers seek to reduce sugar content, it is a popular ingredient for beverages, cereals, confectionery, baked goods and dairy products.

Overview

Delivered as a fine white powder with an intense, sweet taste, stevia is extracted from a natural source — the leaves of the Stevia rebaudiana plant, native to Brazil and Paraguay. The active ingredient in stevia, steviol glycosides, are around 150 times sweeter than sugar.
