Sulphuric Acid

A central substance in the chemical industry, sulphuric acid is commonly used in fertiliser manufacture, detergent production, oil refining, dyes, chemical synthesis and lead-acid batteries.

  • Made from sulphur, oxygen and hydrogen
  • Used in the production of phosphoric acid
  • A key commodity product in the chemical industry
  • Is effective in refining crude oil, as a crop spray prior to harvesting, as a drain cleaner and removing corrosion

Sulphuric acid is a highly corrosive chemical which presents as a colourless liquid with a strong and distinctive smell.

We have an on-site dilution plant providing multiple strengths and catering for all requirements. Some of our most popularly-requested dilutions include 96%, 77%, 35%, 30%, 28% and 20%.

Chemical formula

• Used in ‘wet method’ production of phosphoric acid, which is used to manufacture phosphate fertilisers.
• Sprayed on potato crop fields to prevent entanglement with equipment.

Oil & Gas

• A catalyst for removing impurities in crude oil refining processes.

Textile Chemicals & Dyes

• Dyestuff product manufacturing
• A catalyst for improving the reaction between dyes and fabrics
• For manufacturing synthetic fibres like nylon and polyester

Industrial Ingredients

• Metal processing: Used in large quantities by the iron and steel making industry to remove oxidation, rust and scaling.
• Batteries: Used as an electrolyte for powering lead-acid batteries.
• Chemical synthesis: A strong acidic catalyst, it is used to speed up and improve the efficiency of chemical conversions.

Cleaning Chemicals & Detergents

• Drain cleaners and detergent products: dissolves and removes oil, grease, hair and tissue paper.

Water Treatment

• pH adjustment of process waters and wastewater, removing alkaline contaminants as well as heavy metals.

Healthcare Chemicals

• A catalyst in the production of antibiotics, painkillers and other drugs.
• For regulating the pH of certain medicines like insulin.
