Propionic Acid: A Preservative For Almost A Century

Propionic acid has been utilised for its preservative properties since the 1930s when it was discovered to limit the spoilage of bread and other baked goods.

Today it has multiple applications and is a growing product in the Airedale Group portfolio.

It now has widespread uses in the agricultural industry and over the last four decades has been expanded for use as a preservative for stored grains and animal feed.

Although an acid, it is naturally occurring and mild enough for use in food products and continues to be used in food manufacture to eliminate mould and yeast by regulating pH levels.

Our propionic acid supply is secure and reliable and is handled by one-to-one account managers to ensure orders are delivered when and where they are needed.

Further information about the properties of our propionic acid can be found on our website or by contacting enquiries@airedale-group.com.
