Simplifying Chemical Assessments with ‘One Substance, One Assessment’

The European Commission has agreed to adopt the three principles of the chemical assessment reform known as ‘One Substance, One Assessment’ and is therefore in the early stages of regulatory change to create a simpler, more transparent and faster regulatory system for the chemical industry.

Its core objectives include: to streamline the assessment of chemicals across the European Union, to increase and strengthen the existing knowledge base of chemicals into one easily-accessible chemical database, and to detect potential risks in early stages to be able to action them, reducing the amount of time between identification of risk and putting a regulatory solution in place.
