Phosphoric acid is one of the most widely used chemicals in industry, with major applications across cleaning, water treatment, oil and gas, metal treatment and agriculture.
It is an effective chelating agent that binds metal ions in solution, whilst its acidity can dissolve rust, scale and mineral deposits. This makes it effective in industrial cleaning formulations.
As an acid, it also lowers and adjusts pH, giving broad uses as a pH regulator.
On contact with metal, phosphoric acid also forms a thin protective phosphate layer, making it useful in metal treatment and corrosion prevention.
The phosphoric acid we distribute is an 85% strength aqueous solution, holding the formula H₃PO₄ with a conjugate base of phosphate (PO₄³⁻).
• Phosphate-based agrochemical formulations
• Animal feed production: source of phosphorus
• Raw material in phosphate fertiliser manufacture
• Household and industrial cleaning formulations: descaling agent, chelating agent and pH adjuster
• Removes mineral deposits, cementitious smears and hard water stains from tools and surfaces
• Rust and scale removal by acid pickling
• Phosphating and passivation of metal surfaces
• Well acidising
• Descaling of equipment and pipelines
• pH control of process water streams and wastewater
• Rust and corrosion prevention on equipment
